Anniversaries are momentous occasions – they implore us to pause and reflect not only on the year following the event, but on the upcoming year ahead. Whether it’s been five years since the day you wed or you’re renewing your vows after twenty-five, what better way to commemorate that date and honor your commitment than with an anniversary ring?  So much more than a bouquet or a day at the spa, this meaningful piece of jewelry is a permanent symbol of the time and love you’ve shared and a future full of good things to come.

When it comes to deciding what type of anniversary ring you’d like to give, or receive, if you’re planning on buying your own, there are a few different options. A purchase like this requires thought and consideration, so make sure you put plenty toward it before making your final decision. Here to help with that decision, we have three types of anniversary rings.

Diamond Eternity Bands

What better way to celebrate how far you’ve come and how far you’ll go than with an endless circle of diamonds? The eternity band is the quintessential definition of eternal love and although typically given to celebrate landmark anniversaries, any occasion can be the perfect occasion to celebrate a love that doesn’t fade. With diamonds encircling the finger, you will enhance your engagement and wedding band, or you can wear it on your opposite hand to stand out. Bear in mind, however, that because the diamonds go all the way around, the ring can be harder to resize and repair.

Stackable eternity bands are another popular option as they allow you to add a little more personality to your stack. Consider bands with different cuts or setting or give a subtle nod to the anniversary year with different colored gemstones.

Five, Seven, or Nine-Stone Anniversary Ring

Perhaps you are looking for a way to commemorate how many years you’ve been together or how many children you’ve had: consider a multi-stone ring to represent this! Although five, seven, or nine stone bands are popular and a way to achieve the eternity band look, there are options with two, three, and four stones, as well.   These bands are a bit more practical than eternity bands for a number of reasons – they offer a more cost-effective option and are easier to repair and resize because diamonds only run half the circumference of the band, which also lends itself to the rings’ durability.

Year-Specific Metal or Gemstone Ring

If you’re looking for a unique and fun way to represent the anniversary year, consider choosing a metal or stone to do so! Since gold represents the first-year anniversary, it’s typical to receive a gold band or jewelry with gold accents. If you’re celebrating year three, consider a pearl ring; year ten makes it easy: give your beloved a ring with diamonds. Landmark anniversaries tend to have the more commonly known stones or metal: think ruby for fifteen years and silver for year twenty-five, while year seven is symbolized by onyx and thirteen is citrine.

There aren’t any set rules for when you should give or receive an anniversary band. Many couples choose to commemorate their milestone anniversaries, such as the 10th, 15th, or 25th, with an anniversary ring, while others celebrate alternative years or different observances. We think anniversary rings are an appropriate gift for any year you want to celebrate being with the love of your life.
