It’s a family story that stretches back to the 1940s. Belgian watchmaker Maurice Barouh was devoted to the strict craft of watchmaking. Maurice would only use the highest quality materials and insisted on staying true to the precision of watchmaking. Maurice’s son, Jack, would also grow to love the passion of horology, but unlike his father, Jack Barouh also knew how to translate fashion trends into his designs.
In 1995, Jack and his wife Rita founded the company we know today as Michele, named for their eldest daughter. In 2000, Michele Barouh joined on and is now the creative director who is taking her father’s aesthetic into the third generation.
Deco Collection
The Deco Collection is the signature Michele platform, inspired by the Art Deco movement that began in the 1930s. True to the ideal that Michele pieces should be both timeless and fashion-forward, the Deco Collection does not disappoint. One of the reasons Michele is quickly becoming a favorite of popular fashion bloggers is the nearly limitless dial and strap combinations. Michele watches feature the iconic rectangular face, interchangeable bands, and case styles ranging from stainless steel, yellow, or rose gold. Some even combine metals for a more dramatic look. The dial is mother-of-pearl, topped off with scratch resistant sapphire crystals. And, of course, the signature diamond MW pattern.
It’s a perfect blend of chic and fun, able to be worn day or night; weekday to weekend. Michele Deco Collection’s aesthetic beauty is matched only by how well it is made. It’s water resistant up to 50 meters and has never lost Maurice’s insistence that at the end of the day, it must still perform the functions of a watch. You’ll definitely want to tuck this great gift idea away for her for the holidays.
