More Swiss Army Knife Versions

Posted by Sylvans at 11:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (18)

There’s more to Swiss Army than the red iconic pocket knife commonly associated with backpackers. If you like adventure but also like stylish things to go with your traveling, Swiss Army has more colors and looks. For example, the Elegant Pocket Tools is stainless grey that compliments your classy outfit for  glam-camping. It is also small enough to carry in your pocket, wallet, or belt bag. On the other hand, the Yellow Pocket knife is trendy and matches the style of a younger set. It has lock blades and, as expected, essential camping tools. Then there’s a Swiss Army pocket knife with a thumb drive for storing files.  This can be handy for freeing your phone camera from large image files. You can be sure that these new versions carry the Swiss tradition of quality craftsmanship.

Nothing beats the original

Posted by Sylvans at 1:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (18)

“It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation,” so says the famous Moby Dick author Herman Melville. It is likely in the same light that Victorinox Swiss Army reissued their highly successful classic Original Swiss Army watch. From the makers of the legendary Original Swiss Army Knife, the 2013 Swiss Army Original features a noticeably smart avant-garde look compared to the first one. This watch has two versions — an Original Chronograph Limited Edition and Original three-hand chronograph — both mounted on a neat looking bund-style strap. Technically, both old and new Original variants are similar, with the same legibility and style that Swiss Army had been famous for. The new version, however, is jam-packed with many color options and models. So if you’re a big fan of attractive yet affordable timepieces, the 2013 Swiss Army Original watch is definitely the watch for you.

The Swiss to the Rescue

Posted by Sylvans at 1:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (18)

It’s a simple problem that could have had a major impact. Our family went for a night camp at the forest, a few miles away from the nearest town. We stocked in canned goods and bottled drinks to last us for three days. Everything went smoothly until lunch time came. Nobody thought to bring the can opener. It was funny if not for the fact that we’re hungry. I thought it’s like installing state-of-the-art anti-burglar system in the house and forgetting to close the front door. After some minutes of pointing fingers at each other I remembered I always have this basic Swiss Army pocket knife attached in my backpack like a key chain. I put it there not so much that I’m always preparing for situations like this, but just to show off the brand, like I’m some outdoor-going dude. Well you guess it, my family didn’t die of starvation that day. Thanks to me.

Trick on How to Open a Canned Good

Posted by Sylvans at 9:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (18)

There’s a reliable way to open a canned good in case you’ve lost or forgotten the can opener. Find a solid rock with at least six inches of flat surface. Overturn the can making sure the top part is in direct contact with the flat surface. Then rub the top part vigorously against the stone’s flat surface for about thirty seconds. Make sure to do this continuously until you can feel the top a little hotter caused by the friction of the tin against the rock. Then put the can upright and using two hands press the side of the can. The upper lid will come off easily. That’s because you rubbed off a thin film of tin that glues the lid with the rim. But why make life hard for you. Just bring your Swiss Army knife always with you. Put it in your bag or use it like a keychain so it goes with you wherever and whenever you decide to go outdoors.

The World’s biggest little icon now has a timepiece

Posted by Sylvans at 1:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (18)

More than a hundred years ago in Switzerland Karl Elsener developed a cutlery manufacturing process that quickly earned his products a reputation for quality craftsmanship. Years later, he would go on to create one of the biggest little icon in the world : the Swiss Army knife. This legendary pocket knife would grace the backpacks and pockets of the most adventurous explorers worldwide in the most arduous situations. The pocket knife has stood the test of time, but there’s one thing that Elsener didn’t count on. The craftsmanship that he had perfected now graced a range of timepieces that carries the brand he created over a century ago. One look at the Swiss Army timepiece collections, including the AirBoss, Alpnach, and the Original Chronograph, easily reveals the same Swiss excellence of craftsmanship that made Elsener famous.

Fancy Sharpness

Posted by Sylvans at 1:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (18)

Be sharp and smart when buying knives. Where better to look than from the makers of the iconic all-in-one utility knife that campers around the world have depended on to cut, slice, peel, slash, and almost anything that a sharp edge can do. The Swiss Army little red knife has now a bigger and sharper cousin—the SwissClassic Carving knife. It’s the same Swiss high-carbon steel material and precision crafting that goes into this chef’s best friend designed to make kitchen life easier for non-chefs like us. It cuts smoothly through the toughest sinew and even breaks little bones with ease.  The 19-cm knife is manufactured as a serious kitchen instrument, but it can be fancy, too. It comes in alluring colors like apple green, morning yellow, pink and brown to suit your kitchen interior. If you love cooking forever, the SwissClassic Carving knife will remain sharp forever.

How to appreciate a Swiss Army cutlery

Posted by Sylvans at 10:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (18)

Victorinox Swiss Amry has a range of quality sharp knives that meets even the stringent requirement of a chef. The same quality precision found in its pocket knife collection is featured in its cutlery line that promises sharpness for all food cutting needs. You can easily gauge its quality by holding the grip and feeling the weight evenly distributed across the handle and into the knife’s tip. You can test the balance by holding the knife horizontally with the sharp edge pointing up. With a Swiss Army knife, it’s easy to find the fulcrum—the center of the balance that keeps it from tipping over. The contour is also comfortable and easy to secure a hold. The knives are made in a single piece of steel for more durability especially at the hilt section, where most knives are weakest.

Camping Out the Swiss Army Way

Posted by Sylvans at 10:00:25 AM in Swiss Army (18)

If you’re preparing things for a camping trip make sure to do the Swiss Army knife way; only the things that you’ll need should go in the backpack and they should be organized logically. To help you pack up the things, break them down in five categories: shelter, cooking, clothes, personal, and first-aid kit. Like a Swiss Army knife that groups tools by function, keep the things in each category close together, preferably in one bag or plastic to access them easily. For example, put all your clothes in a large trash bag; if you need to look for a sock, you just take out that bag without messing up the other things. Similarly, put the medicines in one box that you can easily reach during an emergency. You can even subdivide a category. For instance, your clothes bag can contain smaller bags that separate the undies from swimwear and from sleep clothes. Your first-aid kit can also contain small pouches for minor illnesses, wounds, and ointments. By organizing your camping gears and things, you’re likely to enjoy a smoother outdoor adventure. Of course, don’t forget the Swiss Army knife.

Built for the outdoors

Posted by Sylvans at 10:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (18)

A timepiece does not only tell time; it tells your lifestyle. Take the Swiss Army Summit XLT. Although Swiss Army is closely associated with outdoor adventure because of its red utilitarian pocket knife, the same air of the great outdoors is reflected on the XLT. The hard and sturdy casing is a perfect fit for a wild, rugged terrain and unpredictable weather. The lens covering is hard and scratch-resistant that can stand the pounding while you climb up a mountain. Its bold dial and numerals are easy on the eye, bearing in mind that it may be difficult to read clearly out there in the open. The strap, while simple, is solid and easy to lock around the wrist securely. But more than how it looks in the outside, the inside of Swiss Army Summit XLT is geared up for adventure. The precision engineering, accurate movement and craftsmanship are Swiss, no less than that.

Sharp investment

Posted by Sylvans at 1:55:00 AM in Swiss Army (18)

Mention Swiss Army and the first thing that comes to mind is that handy all-in-one utility knife. The little knife has tons of uses and it never fails to cut, poke, slash and more when you need to. But did you know Swiss Army also manufactures real knives for the kitchen? The same high-carbon stainless steel that makes the handy utility knife a dependable item is found in Swiss Army kitchen knives. Specifically, the SwissClassic Carving knife is designed with one thing in mind: cut through and cut smoothly. It is a 19-cm long sharp knife in playful colors, such as apple green, bright yellow, pink and neutral brown to match your kitchen interior. It’s nice to look at, sure, but it’s seriously created for the job. The SwissClassic Carving knife is expected to remain sharp for a lifetime, a good investment when you love to cook or prepare dishes, just like its wide array of Swiss Army timepieces.

Meet the Swiss Army Infantry

Posted by Sylvans at 10:25:00 AM in Swiss Army (18)

The Victorinox Swiss Army brand started out in 1884 as Karl Elsener’s cutler shop, where he designed and pioneered the world-famous Swiss Army knife for the country’s armed forces.  A hundred years hence, the brand has not lost ties with its army origins, and the brown and green colors of the Swiss Army still crop up in many of its designs. The Victorinox Infantry Vintage mechanical watch, sports not only these emblematic shades but also the rugged sophistication and reliability of the military. The solid make of the Swiss watch encloses a mechanical self-winding movement that is viewable through the clear exhibition case back of the piece. The distinctive green dial shows a day calendar on the 12th hour, a date calendar on the 3rd and alternately sized numeral indicators on the multi-textured face of the watch. An inner circle of smaller numerals counts the hours in 24-hour format. In general, the watch is a picture of rugged and durable device in a beautifully remarkable package.

Check it out at Sylvan’s – an authorized dealer for Swiss Army timepieces.
